An E, Los Angeles, CA April, 1992 © Marissa Roth
For a new photo blog called, "Camera Conversations", I was recently asked by my friend Todd Felderstein, the creator of the blog and interviewer, to provide some images I took during the Los Angeles Riots of 1992. I was part of the Los Angeles Times staff that then won the Pulitzer Prize for this coverage.
One of the images I chose, was this one. Always interested in images that say more than the obvious, I felt that seeing the evidence of civility mashed together with fragments of destruction, conveyed the tragedy of this event in more metaphorical terms.
