Our hearts break again this week upon the terrible news about the 20 year-old Tibetan monk, Phuntsog Jarutsang, who died early on Thursday from burns sustained through self-immolation while protesting against Chinese rule. He was from the Kirti Monastery in Sichuan Province, a center of protest against Chinese policies that was the scene of a brutal crackdown during the March 2008 political uprisings, when at least 10 Tibetans were shot.
Phuntsog's desperate act for public awareness again underscores the suffering and plight of Tibetans worldwide.
