Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, LA 2006 © Marissa Roth
Before he was even 20, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers was Michael Collins' assassin in the biopic featuring Liam Neeson. By 2002, with over a dozen films under his young belt he starred in 'Bend It Like Beckham' - in their review, The New Yorker memorably described him as "he of the watery eyes".
In 2006 he appeared on our screens as a surprisingly handsome Henry VIII, which was around the time Marissa photographed him in LA for the New York Times.
